Title: Operations Analyst
The Investment Operations department is part of the wider Operations department including Fund Operations and Performance Measurement & Client Reporting. The Investment Operations team supports the Investment Management department across the full range of equity and fixed income product lines and investment systems. In addition, the team provides a global middle office oversight function, interfacing between the front office and the various outsourced service providers.
The Singapore Investment Operations team is responsible for regional oversight of Janus Henderson Investors end to end middle office solution and delivery of investment operations services to internal and external clients. The team bridges the gap between the internal departments/clients and the middle office service provider by partnering with the service provider; this enables the business and wider operations to increase breadth, depth, and capabilities. The department strives to streamline, enhance, and optimize operational efficiency while reducing risk across business to safeguard the reputation of the firm and our client’s assets.
Key components of the Singapore Investment Operations team’s work includes providing trade support and data management services to the investment professionals located in Pan Asia, as well as performing a number of critical data quality reviews on the information that Janus Henderson investment professionals use globally.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review IBOR to ensure that the data used by portfolio managers, other internal / external clients and functions is of high quality and can be trusted for investment management and client reporting purposes.
Assist in the management and resolution of exceptions arising from the trade management and matching process across all asset classes.
Investigate data issues and their root cause(s) across Business As Usual (BAU) processes in order to constantly improve the quality of data and operating model.
Support portfolio management by ensuring the relevant applications are updated with their trade queues monitored and managed.
Provide oversight of Janus Henderson’s TPA’s in accordance with agreed governance and manage them to adhere to Janus Henderson’s outsourced model.
Review team processes and procedures ensuring the procedures are up to date and followed.
Improve BAU processes via automation or streamlining projects to improve efficiency.
Attend to ad-hoc requests/issues from portfolio managers, dealers and other internal / external clients.
Prioritise workload according to the requirements of clients and the team
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external functions e.g. TPAs, IT Market Data Manager, Fund Management, Fund Control, Operations Strategy, Business Change, Trade Management, Investment Administration, Transitions etc.
Assumes additional duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent is desirable
Relevant industry qualifications e.g. IMC, IAQ are beneficial
Expert / advanced user of Excel (Macros / VBA)
Previous experience of working in an investment management or related environment is essential.
This may include either directly or via an outsourced provider
Strong instrument/asset and product/fund knowledge. E.g. Equities, bonds, derivatives, foreign exchange
A thorough understanding of investment management process and end to end lifecycle of a trade is beneficial
Knowledge of Charles River is beneficial
Self-motivated. E.g. does not wait to be given a specific task
Confidence in dealing with people from various functions such as fund managers, dealers, TPA’s/back office and management
Ability to communicate effectively globally
Flexible approach with the ability to adapt quickly to meet business and client needs where appropriate
Ability to question, challenge and understand detail
Self-starter who will take responsibility for his/her actions
Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks
