Title: Senior Product Specialist

The Department

The marketing department is responsible for building the Janus Henderson brand, product awareness and helping to drive sales in tandem with the firm’s distribution operation. The team is responsible for marketing to direct, intermediated, wholesale and institutional clients segments globally using all aspects of the marketing mix to maximize exposure to core markets.

Overview of the Role

The Senior Product Specialist serves as the organization’s primary champion and subject matter expert for an assigned set of Equity products. Working closely with investments, distribution and marketing, the Senior Product Specialist is responsible for product messaging, competitive analysis, product training, investment updates and client interaction.

The role is responsible for supporting a global business model across intermediary and institutional distribution channels.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Craft and articulate product stories and messaging for a specified product set, serving as a subject matter expert on the products

  • Create and maintain relevant platform and product stories/narrative to differentiate products and set performance expectations including marketing language, RFP content, pitch books and web messaging

  • Position products across institutional and intermediary distribution channels seeking opportunities to actively promote products and help drive sales

  • Provide on-going product training for all distribution channels globally on assigned product set

  • Proactively identify product marketing opportunities based on industry trends, current market environment and competitive advantages

  • Identify competitive opportunities and provide detailed competitive analysis

  • Build product sales ideas and drive content for marketing collateral

  • Proactively communicate information to keep distribution team apprised and well-informed of pertinent product features and benefits and performance updates

  • Collaborate with the Investment team, crafting business plans and identifying opportunities for product promotion throughout the year

  • Provides sales support to all distribution channels globally with questions and client interactions

  • Engage with clients across all channels via conference calls, on site visits, due diligence meetings, and travel for in person meetings for new business or ongoing client servicing

  • Collaborate with product management team to assure complementary positioning of all Janus Henderson products and drive team wide initiatives

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Data interpretation from sources including : Bloomberg, FactSet, Wilshire, Morningstar Direct, eVestment and other resources

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; MBA preferred

  • CFA, or progress achievements toward CFA is a positive

Competencies Required

  • Product experience with a global asset manager or manager research experience

  • Ability to craft stories and articulate product messaging

  • Experience with global markets is a plus, solid understanding of distribution and ability to partner with distribution

  • Ability to assimilate complex and varied market data into a timely case for product investment

  • Experience presenting to clients and internal audience, one on one and larger groups

  • Ability to drive ideas from concept to completion through efficient project management and execution

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills required

  • Ability to set goals, work independently and drive results

  • Strong knowledge of asset management business and investment strategies

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
