Title: Senior Finance Manager, Asia
Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Head of Financial Control for Pan Asia, this role will help oversee and manage part of the Pan Asia Finance team. The Pan Asia Finance Team is responsible for the financial accounting of all the entities in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Japan.
The Senior Finance Manager will lead a team of financial accountants, each responsible for their respective entities. Singapore is also the regional Finance hub for Pan Asia and this role will have oversight of the finance support provided to the businesses in the region. The role is expected to have a keen focus on governance, controls, process improvements and automation.
The role will manage a team of 3 finance professionals, all located in the Singapore office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Regional statutory and regulatory reporting – Asia ex Australia
Monitoring of payroll and staff costs, including posting of related entries
Review & sign off on regulatory reporting, e.g. Risk Based Capital reporting, MAS quarterly filing, HK FRR etc.
Review of monthly financials, including balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with local projects, e.g. fund closures, tax queries etc.
Overseeing Pan Asia Finance Hub operations
Oversight on Accounts Payables/Receivables for Pan Asia
Co-ordination with London & Denver group finance teams in all Pan Asia finance operation matters
Analytical review of revaluation, open account items, revenue and expenses items for regional companies to ensure proper posting and accountability
Ensure controls around transaction processing is effective and adequate
Review and enhancement of Finance policies, procedures, and controls
Compile and/or produce documentation around procedures and controls
Regular review to ensure that policies, procedures, and controls are effective
Identify areas of weakness and develop appropriate measures and safeguards
Ensure that processes are compliant with regulatory requirements, e.g. SOX
Process efficiency enhancements and automation
Review of existing procedures and seek to refine and automate where possible
Identify weak links (e.g. system, data etc.) and either address the issues or implement effective work-arounds
Champion change and improvements to produce outputs that’s “right, first time every time”
Support for ad hoc projects
Systems implementation and upkeep, e.g. SAP, Bottomline, Basware etc.
SOX compliance by 31st December 2018
Any other ad hoc tasks or projects as assigned
Assist as required in ad-hoc projects and other business initiatives.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Degree in accountancy with CPA / CA/ ACCA qualification
At least 8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an Asset management company or other similar investment financial institution with regional exposure
Technical and practical knowledge of regional (Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Australia) statutory & regulatory requirements in asset management or financial services industries
A team leader with at least 3 years of experience in managing accounting professionals
Proficient in Microsoft office software, particularly in Excel (VBA, custom formulas, pivot tables etc.)
Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite
Knowledge of Mandarin, Cantonese, and/or Japanese will be an advantage
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred
Strong attention to detail and able to work productively under pressure and tight deadlines
A strong team player that is accountable and reliable
Inquisitive with passion for development and learning
Independent and adaptable, able to do ground work while taking on managerial tasks
Mature and competent individual with good communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence when dealing with senior business management, especially when opinions may differ
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
