Overview of the Role

The Institutional Client Strategy Associate is responsible for providing research support to the Chief Institutional Client Strategist and to the broader Janus Henderson North America Institutional team. This individual has the opportunity to partner with Institutional Client and Consultant Relations Executives and provide targeted research around pension related issues, strategic asset allocation and investment strategies, all in an effort to raise visibility of Janus Henderson Investors in the institutional community and to strengthen our relationship with clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide quantitative and qualitative research support to the Chief Institutional Client Strategist in formulating topics for white papers, thought leadership pieces, and conference presentation materials (40%).

  • Research and provide specific analyses and solutions to problems facing institutional investors. Assist in conducting research to cater to specific client needs (40%).

  • Perform econometric analysis of commonly referenced global economic data (10%).

  • Collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of financial markets and strategic asset class data (10%).

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Programming skills a must (Python, R, Matlab, Java, C-based language).

  • Strong math, statistics, and quantitative background.

  • Interest in and knowledge of derivation of capital market assumptions, strategic asset allocation, and risk models helpful.

  • Must be intellectually curious about the financial markets.

  • Must be an independent thinker and worker.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to create effective presentation materials.

  • 2-4 years of work experience

  • A degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering preferred

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:

  • Annual Performance Appraisal

  • Completion of all assigned Compliance training

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • PC usage up to 100% of the time.

  • Office equipment such as telephone, copier, and fax machines, etc.

  • Cellular phone and/or digital pager may be required.

  • Overtime and weekend hours may be required.
