Overview of the Role
Responsible for performing the more complex activities related to the design, layout and production of company marketing materials, both print and digital, to support functional areas across primary distribution. Materials include, but are not limited to, marketing collateral, brochures, presentation materials, campaigns, client newsletters, signage and the development of digital campaign materials.
Designer is responsible for adhering to brand standards and style guidelines, creating and maintaining strong working relationships with internal clients, gaining broad knowledge of their clients’ business objectives and understanding how they align with company objectives. Designer must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate strong creative strategy to clients from concept ideation and design development/execution, through presentation to the client by being able to articulate the rationale behind the creative decision-making process. Ability to manage production work and peak volumes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs the activities related to the design, typesetting and production of a variety of company marketing materials, including but not limited to, collateral, presentation materials and campaigns. Some knowledge of web content management systems (Wordpress) to be able to create materials for the digital space such as web promo boxes, landing page layouts and email is a plus.
Ensures marketing materials fully represent brand and meet client needs.
Must be able to solve complex problems, coordinate with management to make judgments and decisions and demonstrate the ability to think logically and critically.
Requires superior time management and organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, adhere to strict deadlines and work within budgetary constraints; ability to learn and utilize online workflow management systems
Works extensively with Clients to understand their needs and objectives, demonstrate the ability to translate their requests into thoughtful and strategic creative designs and production work, which is produced on-time and within brand guidelines.
Requires the ability to effectively present ideas—both verbally and visually.
May collaborate with third party vendors, such as printers, programmers or agencies to complete the final product.
May be responsible for attending press checks when appropriate.
Researches competitor designs and new technology.
Provides technical expertise to other departments as needed.

Technical Skills and Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advanced design, typesetting, and production skills
Strong ability to take an idea from concept development to final execution while maintaining brand standards and strategically meeting client and project requirements
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work load
Ability to process a high volume of detailed information accurately and efficiently
Ability to work independently
Strong knowledge of the of digital and offset printing, as well as press checking capability
Knowledge of WordPress or other content management system
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5+
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Publisher
Strong knowledge of design graphing tools
Five to seven years’ experience in design and production
Creative portfolio must demonstrate design expertise
Associate’s Degree in Graphics Design or equivalent required
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
Annual Performance Appraisal
Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Working Environment/Physical Activities
Overtime may be required on short notice and may include weekend, evening, holiday hours
Typical office environment with equipment personal computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.
Mac and PC usage up to 100% of the time
