Overview of the Role

This role is to manage strategic projects and small change delivering into Janus Henderson’s Operational and Business teams as part of the Operations and Business projects team. The Operations and Business projects team sits within the Global Change team, which itself is part of the Global Technology department. The team is responsible for maintaining the firm’s Business Application Platforms as well managing Operational and business change. The team runs numerous projects into all areas of the firm, as well as overseeing change delivery from outsourced-service providers into Janus Henderson.

The role will principally be focused on managing and contributing to the implementation of change initiatives prioritized by through the annual initiative process with residual capacity being occupied by supporting small change / BAU changes. Supporting the process will require managing changes made internally as well as at the firm’s multiple outsourced providers, such as middle office, fund accounting and transfer agency providers.

It may be necessary to play the role of a business analyst to understand the business requirements and work with the technical team to implement. Works closely with business partners to identify and analyze practical solutions through existing or new business systems technology, third party process changes or internal process reengineering. The person in this role will not only need excellent problem-solving skills, but should also be able to see the larger picture and recommend the steps to get the business from problem to solution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with and manage senior business stakeholders from Operations, IT & other business areas as necessary

  • Scope project deliverables and assist stakeholders in business case justification

  • Support the definition, with assistance of stakeholders, relevant target global operating models

  • Manage all aspects of operational readiness

  • Manage change delivered into internal Operations and business teams

  • Managing 3rd party vendors and ensuring agreed deliveries are on-track against expected budgets

  • Manage change delivery into Henderson from outsourced-service providers

  • Chair project Steering and Working groups as well as prepare necessary documentation

  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and projects in a demanding environment

  • Client focused, committed to excellence, strong attention to detail and a team player

  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks and workflow analysis.

  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.

  • Excellent demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical, and problem solving skills

  • Liaise with stakeholders in all areas of the business in order to understand and document functional requirements, devise and propose solution options to support decision making.

  • Involved in all phases of a business initiative to ensure effort is on-track and to aid in maintaining business support, involvement and acceptance.

  • Assists in the development of testing, training development/support, and launch plans as required, evaluate delivery against business needs for user acceptance and adoption.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel, Project, and Visio.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required

  • 3-5 years’ experience in business analysis & project management

  • Knowledge of the Asset Management industry and related computer applications and business procedures

  • Experience of working in a global environment managing stakeholders across the globe

  • Excellent understanding of IT & Operational areas within the asset management sector

  • Strong leader equally comfortable facing off to steering, challenging senior stakeholders and directing service providers and internal teams

  • Excellent Communication – provides documents that are clear, precise and comprehensible and communicates and presents in a clear and compelling manner

  • Excellent issues management with the an ability to keep clients and project team focused on delivery

  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.

  • Ability to analyze high-level requirements and translate these to overall detailed system-level design to be used for architectural design, cost / benefit analysis, and solution development

  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate information technology concepts to non-technology personnel.
